Maura Amaral is a graduate of Colorado State University and is a Professional Research Assistant in the Sociology department at CU – Boulder.

Maura has been involved with softball for over 15 years.  Her career began, however, at the ripe age of four when she made her debut in the City of Louisville’s t-ball league.  During her years in softball Maura played for the City of Louisville, the Louisville Sluggers, the Colorado Commotion, and Centaurus High School.

In 1999, her 18UB Colorado Commotion squad was the Western Area National Champions.  The following year, they traveled to Kauai, Hawaii, where they took first place in the Aloha Invitational Tournament.

In high school, Maura played varsity at Centaurus for one year at catcher and third base.  She was named to the 1st Team Academic All-American, 1st Team All-Conference, Most Valuable Player, and was selected to play in the All-State game.  She went on to play catcher her freshman year at Doane College.

Maura was also the JV coach and assistant Varsity coach at Skyline High School for the 2004 season.

Aside from softball, Maura enjoys traveling.  Her most memorable vacation thus far has been her trans-Atlantic voyage aboard the Queen Elizabeth II ocean liner during her last season on the route between the New York Harbor and Southampton, England.

She is really looking forward to the upcoming season with the Lady Warriors and is grateful for the opportunity to teach the girls and learn a few things herself!
